Jacomo Sailing Club has been supporting sailing seminars that are held by club members or other area organizations. If you have ever wanted to learn to sail or learn to sailboat race these are an excellent ways to learn new skills and meet sailors. Seminars are offered for a variety of topics from beginner racer to crewing on larger club boats. Plus our Open Sail Day allows you to come out and take a ride on one of the many boats which race at our club. This is your chance, so come out and join the fun!

The JACOMO SAILING CLUB offers classes for beginning sailors to introduce them to the sport. No previous experience is necessary.

WHAT is covered?

The classes will total eight hours of instruction in four evening classes.

Some of the topics include: Types of sailing, Safety, Rigging, Launching, Finding the wind, How sails work, Sailing upwind and downwind, Capsize and rescue, Balance and tuning, Approaching the dock, etc.

WHAT are the costs?

The classroom portion is $120.00, and includes a book, instruction, and an Associate Membership in the club. If practice on the water is desired, skippers in various sized boats are available for $20.00 per hour. Two to three hours of on-the-water time are usually sufficient to acquire the skills.

WHEN are the classes held? Sumer sessions wil be July 8th, 12th, 15th, and 19th from 6:30-8:30pm.

In South Kansas City, and the exact location will be given when you enroll.

If you've never been close to a sailboat, you're qualified! Contact the club training committee now and put your name in. Once we receive your enrollment we will contact you to let you know the location.
